I think it has to do with the guy being depressed...he has to take antidepressants to keep going but hes affraid that medicine will make him numb to the world...that he'll die inside, losing all emotion, feeling. He fears he'll just become another robot going through the motions.
Does anyone else like the piano that comes through on some of the choruses...i think it makes the song...also to add to my previous post and to what pelicanssss was saying

I think songs arent just songs they are actions or something...he wants to do what makes her smile, what makes her happy...but what she wants, her songs are things he can't do or provide
