The Other Side Lyrics

What will one day
Become of us
We'll grow as grass under their feet
No one here will ever know your name
And you still lie here next to me

If it takes another life
I'll wait for you
On the other side
Everything that comes to me
As good
Belongs to you
I'll count our blessings as I
Wait for you
On the other side
Good luck and I will see you through

Get used to this
You're going to be alright
The world goes on with or without me
If I don't ever leave a thing behind
I'll still leave you without me

If it takes another life
I'll wait for you
On the other side
Everything that comes to me
As good
Belongs to you
I'll count our blessings as I
Wait for you
On the other side
Good luck and I will see you through

Surely you guys it's talking about suicide, it makes so much more sense, than waiting for gay partner. Where I come from several people from my town have committed suicide as a result of their sexuality and or bullying because of it. The song can also be considered as anyone you know who has committed suicide and a guess at the feelings they may have felt when they make that awful decision.

I enjoy this song in that weird way when you just want to bum yourself out! Weirdly reassuring????

I love this song, when I fisrt heard it I just kind of stopped and listened (and then stuck it on repeat.) It just makes me think of someone very special who I lost a long time ago

To me, the part:

"If it takes another life I'll wait for you On the other side Everything that comes to me As good Belongs to you"

Is about homosexual partener rights, and lack thereof. Especially with the spoken part at the end.

Also, The lines:

"We'll grow as grass under their feet" and "As good belongs to you"

remind me of Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass.

I love this song.

I just found out that this song is baed on Specimen Days by Michael Cunningham, which is AN AMAZING BOOK BTW. And that's why it reminded me so much of Walt Whitman!

Sounds like a cool book...will have to check it out. I love this song too...reminds me of a movie I saw a long time ago about the end of the world (due to nuclear war) and the final moments with the lead characters holding each other. The man says "we'll be diamonds" and the woman says "diamonds?" and the movie ends. Grass...diamonds...whatever we end up being once we're gone...and the idea that we can meet those we love on the other side: good enuf for me!
