This has got to be one of the absolute saddest, saddest songs I've ever heard. I can't recommend it highly enough.
it sounds like its about either dave or someone he knows going through tough times and trying to impress someone but no matter what they do it means nothing.
Incredible song. Melancholic. I think that "I did my best for you" doesn't refer to one specific person but rather to someone different in each case (dressingroom/truckstop/sleep)
i agree with tzovas, is about different characters, i ve seen this before in his song, string of pearls, definitely very very sad song, but amazing!!
