Could it be a reference o Arrested Development? Cause in the episode Afternoon Delight, Gob continually reminds his employees how much his suit is worth, starting at $3000, with lines such as "You're talking to the man in the $3000 suit. Come on!" and "Like the man in a $4000 suit is gonna hold the elevator door for someone, I mean come on!"

i think this song is about exposing the reality of popularity and wealth and materialistic things that don't get you anywhere in the long run. i get a sense that it's a little bit angry because the person being spoken to is completely oblivious and arrogant just living however he wants to while the speaker is really working hard for what he has. also: the speaker is able to be true to himself while the person being spoen to is being exposed in the song for not actually being stable.

I agree with rockstar reactions take on popularity. It seems pretty obvious.. seeing as the album the song came from is titled popularity.. Haha

I just thought about this years later, like Timbo said, the title is likely an Arrested Development reference.
