Being From Jersey Means Never Having To Say You're Sorry Lyrics
Success has it's price
and can you hear me now?
That I'm dumbing myself down
Am I filling you with doubt?
That I am who you thought
Cause I know it's just a game
but I'm playing it to win
I won't forget from where I came
but it's time to take over, oh yeah
And can you hear me now?
Someone save me from this hell
of my own voice can't you tell
that I sound like I'm dying, oh yeah
I'm tired of waiting, yeah I'm tired of waiting now
I'm tired of being a poor cliche and misunderstood
I'm tired of waiting, yeah I'm tired of waiting
This tune it can fade in cause I can't think anymore.
and can you hear me now?
That I'm dumbing myself down
Am I filling you with doubt?
That I am who you thought
Cause I know it's just a game
but I'm playing it to win
I won't forget from where I came
but it's time to take over, oh yeah
Someone save me from this hell
of my own voice can't you tell
that I sound like I'm dying, oh yeah
I'm tired of being a poor cliche and misunderstood
I'm tired of waiting, yeah I'm tired of waiting
This tune it can fade in cause I can't think anymore.

this song is way under-rated, way way way. its so fucking amazing, whats wrong with you people??
he just wants to do it to have fun, he doesn't care if you like it or not. this song is saying "im doing this to win, im not doing it for you, or you, or you, but me." He knows what he wants, and its not what he's got, so he is gonna do whatever it takes to get it, he's tired of waiting for it to fall on his lap..... at least thats what i think, probably wrong but i dont care.
and you guys are wrong, he's voice is perfect for what this song is about, fuck you, he's voice is perfect for any song he writes, he wrote it, he knows how he wants it to sound, not you.
I love this song... it's one of the most vulnerable-sounding songs on the album and I like that.
You guys are all missing the point. The point of the crackling and the point of his voice sounding broken is because he's emphasizing the fact that he is broken. "Success has its price"=Midtown has broken him because lyrically he put himself out there and it was so personal and it was so emotional for him. " Can you hear my now that I'm dumbing myself down?"= Basically saying that unlike with Midtown, Cobra Starship will not be personal. "Am I filling you with doubt that I am who you thought?"= He is asking you if when you are listeing to Cobra do you think he sold out or underwent this dramatic change. "I know it's just a game and I'm playing it to win, I won't forget from where I came but it's time to takeover."= Answering the previous question saying that he did not sell out, he is still the same person as he was in Midtown and will always cherish everything in the past, but he's removing his emotions from the music business because he realizes the industry is a business, and you can't let your emotions get to you in business. So basically he is saying Cobra Starship is his way of staying in the music business making it to the bigtime, having fun with it, and doing all of that without the emo aspect that was prevalent with Midtown. With that being said, this song is amazing!!!!
really awkward opener for the album. it's a nice acoustic/a cappella song but it seems out of place? i think it would have been a better ending.
Just going to be honest here... ...Gabe is good at what he does, that wasn't what he does.
yeah, Im not too impressed with this song...especially as an opener.
I don't really like this song that much lyrically, I think it's good but his voice doesn't really work with it but I liked it as the opener its unique
yea I think this song is great lyrically i think it means that Gabe is maybe tired of writing songs so they "sound good", and he rather just have fun with his music and "Success has it's price" but he's willing to just have fun rather than be truly "successful"? I'm not sure I'm taking a shot at it =]
i like it...alot actually. i think its kinda sweet in a way as he opens up. i like the line 'Am I filling you with doubt?' because it could mean that since this is an opener you may think that the rest of the songs are like this. plus the last line is brilliant 'This tune it can fade in cause I can't think anymore.'
i read somewhere that he opened it like this because ppl had doubt that cobra starship was going to make it
