Stop And Smell The Roses Lyrics
Sometimes
Just to see you smile
We'll make it all worth while
Sometimes
Just to be with you
Would be all I need
Then I'd have everything
I could ever need
Just to be with you
Cause all I'll ever need
Just to see you smile
We'd make it all worth while
Sometimes I
I would give anything
To take back all the things I said
That made you cry
Sometimes I
Pretend that I got everything
Everything in my garden
Everything is so lovely
Think I'll just stop and smell the roses
Stop and smell the roses
And then I think of you
And I know where you are
It seems so far away
Just so far away
And I don't expect to see you again
(shunt)
(Sometimes I pretend
That everything in my garden's roses...
Everything is so beautiful...)
Just to see you smile
We'll make it all worth while
Just to be with you
Would be all I need
Then I'd have everything
I could ever need
Just to be with you
Cause all I'll ever need
Just to see you smile
We'd make it all worth while
I would give anything
To take back all the things I said
That made you cry
Pretend that I got everything
Everything in my garden
Everything is so lovely
Think I'll just stop and smell the roses
Stop and smell the roses
And then I think of you
And I know where you are
It seems so far away
Just so far away
And I don't expect to see you again
(Sometimes I pretend
That everything in my garden's roses...
Everything is so beautiful...)

Pretty trippy sad love song... with strongly stoned, Velvet-like violin and drums I'm French and I don't speak English very well, so I do what I can to contribute with TVP's lyrics. This one is the opener of the best album I've heard from them, "The Painted Word". TV Personalities are really a pleasant and totally weird band, born at the end of the 70's. It's not always easy to ride through their irregular (in all means of this term) discography, but I hope some people will contribute with their lyrics. They deserve that, with such songs as the surrealistic "14th Floor", "Oxford street", or "I know where Syd Barrett lives"... There's also "Arthur the gardener", an horrible and hilarious song for children, and their biggest pop "hit", "How I've learned to love the bomb" (terrific title !) For me, it's hard to understand everything because leader Dan Treacy has a particularly strong English accent, and for some of their songs, I just don't get a word... I write too much, so I'll just add that those who want to know them better should listen to the excellent compilation "Yes darling, but is it art ?", with which I discovered them.
I listen to this song everytime i'm sad, always. "Sometimes I pretend that i got everything, everything in my garden" but it's not true. When you really miss someone you can't accept the fact that he' s not with you anymore, and all you want is to live a neverending dream and don't wake up
