Cry of The Black Birds Lyrics
Raise your swords up high!
See the black birds fly!
Let them hear your rage!
Show no fear!
Attack!
Charge your horses across the fields
Together we ride into destiny
Have no fear of death, when its our time
Oden will bring us home, when we die!
The ground trembles under us
As we make our thunder charge
The pounding hooves spread panic and fear into their hearts
Our helmets shine in the sun as we near their wall of shields
Some of them turn and run
When they hear our frantic screams!
Throw your swords to (the) sky!
Hear the Black Birds cry!
Let them feel your hate!
Show no fear!
Attack!
The enemy are in disarray
Like a cowardice they run
Send them to their final graves
Don't spare anyone
Kill the wounded by order of
See the pain in their eyes
Over the field and fear the sound
As we hear the ravens cry
See the black birds fly!
Let them hear your rage!
Show no fear!
Attack!
Together we ride into destiny
Have no fear of death, when its our time
Oden will bring us home, when we die!
As we make our thunder charge

Kill the wounded by order of
See the pain in their eyes
As we hear the ravens cry

This is an awesome song from and awesome cd
This is definitely a pre battle "pump up song", it seems to be where two armies have met and they're making the initial charge. Great song
Pretty simple, some warriors on horseback charge some other warriors and the warriors on foot flee. One of my favorite Amon Amarth songs, it's fun to play too.

I do agree that on the surface it seems little more than a simple, pre-battle rally.
To be honest, I feel as though it is also expressing the sorrows of war. The tone of the song conveys this.
sorrows of war? This song pumps me up and with lines like "together we ride, into destiny!" it's pretty much an inspirational song. Also, a bit of extra info towards the meaning: Odin has two ravens/blackbirds who tell him all the things that go on in the 9 worlds
I do agree with the Sarrow of the melody having meaning in the message. Lyrics don't mean everything you know..
protip: yes they do. melody is a major part. but u cant ell a fucking story with melody now can ya jackass?

hey you don't have to be such a dick to him. and also listen to the instrumental Infinite Misery by Cannibal Corpse. I could tell you what that song's story is.

And also he was just saying that lyrics aren't everything. Not that melody is everything.

pretty sure that second to last verse is actually:
The enemy are in disarray Ride them down as they run Send them to their final graves Don't spare anyone Kill the wounded ??? See the panic in their eyes
They made a video for this song.
fuckin awesome song. i'm going to see them tomorrow at Sounds of the Underground in Portland, Oregon, and when they play this song i'll be swingin my hair just as fuckin intense as they do it
I LOVE THE FUCKIN' VIDEO FOR THIS SONG. And the riff they play when they first start singing is amazing, and I also love the way it speeds up when they yell ATTACK! Obviously it's about a battle between Swedish vikings and their enemies.
