Great song from underrated REO bassist Bruce Hall. Its about the singer (Bruce) wanting a one night stand.
It is funny. This was the 2nd album I bot when I was in 8th grade.
I always thought it was just a typical love song and din't pay too much attnetion to it.
But if you actually read the lycrics, they are a bit misogynous.
"Then leave you and never write."
Really, the last two words in that line are really the key. Leaving the girl is bad enough. But not writing really makes for an interesting juxtaposition to the earlier part of the song. In fact, when confronted with the accusation that he doesn't hold her best insterests at heart, he pleads his innocence.
Then he screws her, leaves her and never sees her again.
It really is such a simple song but few songs in rock convey so much in such a short time.
The song is powerful in its lyrical simplicity and provides a stark nihilistic statement regarding one night stands.
