Dead Meat Lyrics

Dead meat
Don't you know you're dead meat?
You just messed with the wrong team
Better not try and fall asleep now

You better run out of here
I'll close my eyes and count to ten
and then I'll come find you

You're gonna get what you deserve
Gonna get what you deserve
In the end you're gonna learn
Oh, you'll get what you deserve

Too much now you know too much
Only one choice you leave for us
Do you think they'll believe us, or you?

Hope you realize this isn't a game
You know the price, so pay up
Or your life could be chaos

You're gonna get what you deserve
Gonna get what you deserve
In the end you're gonna learn
Oh, you'll get what you deserve

This song is about Sean telling his ex-girlfriend (whom he wrote the album about after she cheated on him with his best friend) that she's, metaphorically going to get what she deserves. Think of The Beatles "Run For Your Life" if you need any further thought, it's pretty straightforward.

i dont think this is directed toward his ex. i think its directed toward his best friend. He actually died in a motorcycle accident before they could reconcile, and it effected him deeply. I think this is like what he was feeling when he found out that it was him.

This song came out the year after Cynthia Lennon's expose "John". There were many home truths in that book that tarnished the loving image Yoko tries so hard to project. I think the "Team" he is talking about is Himself, Yoko and her advisers. Look at the song from "Too much, don't you know you know too much" to the end. Thankfully they all seem to be friends again now, but there was bitterness between the "Teams" at the time.

I think Sean wrote this song about Mark David Chapman, the man that murdered his father.

"I'll close my eyes and count to ten and then I'll come find you" This lyric shows how much he loved his father and wanted Chapman to pay for his actions. But he was only five years old at the time of his father's death, so he did not have a firm understanding of the situation. "I'll close my eyes and count to ten" is referring to his young age, because closing your eyes and counting to ten is often associated with the children's game "hide and seek".

My Interpretation

i think it's definitely about his girlfriend finding out, but it wasn't so metaphorically because the guy actually died so she must feel the most awful person out of all this. maybe that's the way he felt about it and then the accident happened... it's just too sad.

Ironically, I think he got what he deserved.

I think he's talking about the punk that killed his dad.
