Dog Sized Bird Lyrics
Have you seen me lately???
I am the dog sized bird on the tracks
I have an unhealthy handful of options and a couple of trains on my back
I’m picking at remains of other lives and watching colors and tragic looking passers-by’s
I am the dog sized bird picking at bones losing my nerve constantly calculating
There’s time between trains I know there’s time between trains I know
And a right moment to find a new set of tracks
There’s time between trains and I know exactly how long
But I’m testing my conviction and I may be primed for picking at any time……

Dog sized bird = vulture.
Have your fun while you can, but your time's coming.
This must be some crazy metaphor, 'cause all it seems to talk about is literally being a bird stuck on the tracks. I see at the end that he states: "...I'm testing my conviction and I may be primed for picking at any time..." maybe that's a statement on one truely speaking their mind and being constantly put down. but if one does it fast enough, as in speak out against the norm, they will be safe due to their speed. in this case, speed possibly meaning their ability to gain other's attention and change mind with simple rhetoric.
this song is great, i love the vibe going on. i only wish it were longer.
It is pretty much my favourite song off the Always Open Mouth
Its about people wanting to do something with their life but sticking with the safe route rather than doing what they want to do out of fear of change and instability. imo anyways.
reminds me alot of These Arms Are Snakes' Gadget Arms. In fact a lot of their new sound seems somewhat influenced by them as they had recently toured together, but I can't really argue with hat I love TAAS.
This song is about how it's easy to get caught up in thoughts and worrying. He's free to find that new set of tracks, but he's holding himself back.
it seems to me that this song is about a grave digger, or somebody who has commited a crime. he knows the train times in order to get away from whoever is trying to convict him, but he might test the waters.
