Erase the Doubt Lyrics

Come down
From your throne
And tear off your wings

Do you still feel so above
After the arrow's
Sting?

Can you give me enough
To believe anything?

Can you erase the doubt

And make this more than a dream
And give me more than I need
To belive anything?

Herein the day of upon us
Much less caring
For others haunts us
No one can make another
Promise to us

You find it strange how
The darkness calms us
Alone at home and hopeless

Drown in the life
We've left behind us

Song is definitely about religion. I just went and seen mushroomhead Sunday. Halfway through the song right before jeffery comes in to say "come down from your throne" Waylon said put your hands up to god.

Waylon or whoever writes their songs (now)whether its a group effort or not. Ive noticed numerous songs even with jmann talking about religious aspects. I love it!!

My Interpretation

@Deftonemushroom it's all about religion brother read all ther songs in detail an think ...look up wat u don't understand....ther trying to bring ppl to god...they have me thinking alot ...I mean alot...I relate to alot of the bad ...been seeing alot more of the positive because of then ...I really like becoming cold 216....216 of u look up the biblical meaning relates to the tree of life and an it associates with 72 different names for god

I think the song is about being obsessed with a woman who thinks she is to good to be with him. Arrows sting is probably refering to cupids arrow, and how he is hoping that he can bring her to like him no matter how it has to be done. the line Erase the doubt I think is about doubting yourself. and how he wants her to make him stop doubting himself by being with her. Making his Dream a reality and giving him what he wants, and believe that he can do anything. Waylon's part in he song is a little less self expainitory so...

"Herein the day of upon us" how he feels as of right now with this girl

"much less caring for others haunts us" wanting to care for others but unable to do so

"No one can make another promise to us" No one can give him what he wants... which is nothing more than just having the girl he's obsessed with

"You find it strange how the darkness calms us alone at home and hopeless Drown in the life We've left behind us" this whole part is just saying that it's easier to be alone than face the world without the person they care about, but as he is doing this all he can think about is all the mistakes he's made in his past that have put him in the position he is in today.

"You find it strange how the darkness calms the life We've left behind us" It's so much easier to blank out all the past mistakes you've made and keep making the same ones than to try and completely change your way of life.

It sounds to me more like a questioning religion type of song. It sounds like he's questioning a fallen angel, trying to either get the angel to understand why he enjoys the dark side, or to get the angel to convince him there's something more he should believe in.

I feel its more of a happier song. Something for someone to believe in. They're saying "Yeah, we really don't like religion, but its meaningless to not believe in it, if you can't find a calling. Believe what you want, we're here to help you light the path"

After reading rock hawk and joeynobody's interpretation, I get the impression that they're asking for the idea of religion to become more relateable. Jeff says "Come down from your throne and tear off your wings"...meaning become more like a human being, and then attempt to preach to me. He seems to be the one asking for arguments supporting religion, while Waylon gives his view on the way they live. This is one of my favorite songs on this album, and to me it just got better.

My Interpretation

Yes all ther music is about religion an the state of the world an things to come ...ther really trying to reach ppl ..esp the type of band they appear visually it's like they intentionally reached for an audience that u wouldn't necessarily find looking for religions beliefs...there so many biblical references warning an hope in every album if u actually look into it....when I first heard solitaire unraveling I thought it was bad ass sounding but didn't understand the meaning...it's being trapped in sin and looking for atonement meaning to undo it an make up for it ...an he kinda puts it out there that's wat he's doin...he says there a storm coming..or a war ..an he's got Rembrandt as his right hand an solo as he's pilot ... Rembrandt was a famous artist in the golden age an of course solo fought the dark empire in Star wars...he's saying he's using his artistic ability to fight evil
