My Secret Is My Silence Lyrics
If you never leave the highlands
like you're drowning under rain
and your sadness tastes like whiskey
and my body breathes the same
and ill drain my wisdom empty
just to feel that space again
but you know nothing is outside
and my secret is my silence
my secret is my silence
and my silence is in vain
im sick of living in these buildings
that were built from blood and rain
and from the warm side of the window
the views always look the same
but your face it held the stories
full of dreams it can contain
but you know nothing is outside
and my secret is my silence
my secret is my silence
and my silence is in vain
but you know nothing is outside
and my secret is my silence
my secret is my silence
and my silence is in vain
and you held on to a country
from the cail yard to the grave
and you spoke in quickly written verses
hidden in your gaelic name
to approach land without a harbour
to find your way home
you approach land without a harbour
to find your way home
like you're drowning under rain
and your sadness tastes like whiskey
and my body breathes the same
just to feel that space again
and my secret is my silence
my secret is my silence
and my silence is in vain
that were built from blood and rain
and from the warm side of the window
the views always look the same
full of dreams it can contain
and my secret is my silence
my secret is my silence
and my silence is in vain
and my secret is my silence
my secret is my silence
and my silence is in vain
from the cail yard to the grave
and you spoke in quickly written verses
hidden in your gaelic name
to approach land without a harbour
to find your way home
you approach land without a harbour
to find your way home

Why hasn't anybody commented on this yet?
What a song. What a song writer.
What is the last line? By nicotine something? It's been bugging me since forever.
I think the line is 'By nicotine flame', but I could be wrong
I think the line is 'By nicotine flame', but I could be wrong
I think the line is 'By nicotine flame', but I could be wrong
The line at the start of the chorus is "but you know nothing is as silent" not "but you know nothing is outside", which makes no sense because some things are outside, just look out the window and anything you see is probably outside. Also, it's not cail yard, it's Kailyard (the kailyard school of Scottish Fiction ) here's alink to it's Wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kailyard_school
