Battle Lyrics

You thought we'd be fine
All these years gone by
Now you're asking me to listen
Well then tell me bout everything
No lies
We're losing time

cause this is a battle
and its your final last call
it was a trial
you made a mistake
we know
why aren't you sorry
why aren't you sorry
why
this could get better
we can be happy
try

woah woah
woah woah

you've got them on your side
and they wont change their minds
now its over
and I'm feeling like I missed out on everything
I just hope It's worth the fight

cause this is a battle(why did you have to let go)
and its your final last call(can't you see you hurt yourself)
it was a trial
you made a mistake
we know
why aren't you sorry
why aren't you sorry
why
this could get better
we can be happy
try

oh oh oh oh
oh oh oh oh

cause this is a battle
and its your final last call
it was a trial
you made a mistake
we know (cant you see you hurt yourself)
why aren't you sorry
why aren't you sorry
why
this could get better
we can be happy
try

oh oh oh oh (this is a battle)
oh oh oh oh ( and its your final last call)
oh oh oh oh (this is a battle)
oh oh oh oh ( and its your final last call)

This is a battle and its your final last call

Now I'm reading the lyrics I can tell that its about the war, but it can be about a relationship to people as well. Thats what its like to me cos it reminds me of a relationship so I guess it can just mean different things to everyone

i truly believe this is one of the best songs ever written. colbie's voice is so beautiful!

i know that she wrote it about her opinions on the war, but i think it could also be about a couple who has been together for a really long time, and then his love for her kind of fades. she says "you used to be happy to try" meaning he used to be happy to try to fix any problems in their relationship but now he just doesn't try at all. he's not really telling her how he feels and she says "no lies, we're losing time" meaning that she just wants to know what is real. and she also says "you made a mistake"..maybe he cheated on her or did something to hurt her and she's just asking him to tell her that he loves her and he won't hurt her anymore but he won't because he doesn't know if he can be true to that. or maybe i'm way off lol

either way it's an amazing song.

While it's been said that she wrote this about the war and government, what I'm going through at the moment makes me see the song much differently. To me it's about a couple, and one person finds out the other has cheated: You thought we'd be fine / All these years gone by / Now you're asking me to listen / Well then tell me bout everything / No lies / We're losing time

The chorus also seems that way to me: It was a trial / You made a mistake / We know / Why aren't you sorry

Then it switches over to the cheater's point of view, claiming they don't stand a chance at fixing things if the other keeps recruiting loved ones to their defense: You've got them on your side / And they wont change their minds

They're trying to figure out if the relationship is worth the battle: Now its over / And I'm feeling like I missed out on everything / I just hope It's worth the fight

and

This could get better / We can be happy / Try

Interesting how many ways you can view a song, depending on your personal experiences! Love this song.

For me this song is about someone who is addicted to drugs and/or alcohol and she has been dealing with the addict for years and has finally had enough... The addict is obviously battling with the addiction. The addict has time after time choosen drugs and/or alcohol over her and this is it.

I think this song is about seeing someone you're in a long-distance relationship with for the first time in a while and realizing that it isn't really going to work out. In the song, I think Colbie is a little irritated that the other person doesn't realize that things are wrong in the relationship and just keeps asking her to listen to him catch her up on how things have been while really he is only wasting time.

This song is about problems in someone's relationship. A relationship that has lasted a LONG time. Two people have grown apart, and are having a battle to stay together. Colbie is singing about being fed up. This is a really beautiful song.

breaking up... giving someone another chance, after cheating or some kind of betrayal and they just give up

Such a pretty song! Colbie has such a unique and sweet voice. It's a sad song but it's cool.
