Protest Song Lyrics
Sleep in a room that knows your name
Nights in a pile, your house arranged
Taped to the wall what's strong at all
Goes with you
Passion thrown and in and out of there
Burned on the wrist, make loving fists
For all who fight to sleep
I'm here by the wayside, you spinning before my eyes
Here, where the kids desire what we desire
Here, where I can clam up with the good times calling out the lies
Calling out the truth
Is I have held you closer than you'd imagine
Beaming in my hands
I have held you closer than you could imagine
Flying from my hands
Nights in a pile, your house arranged
Taped to the wall what's strong at all
Goes with you
Passion thrown and in and out of there
Burned on the wrist, make loving fists
For all who fight to sleep
I'm here by the wayside, you spinning before my eyes
Here, where the kids desire what we desire
Here, where I can clam up with the good times calling out the lies
Calling out the truth
Is I have held you closer than you'd imagine
Beaming in my hands
I have held you closer than you could imagine
Flying from my hands

I love this song, but I can't find the full lyrics anywhere. I know for certain that there are some lines missing. In this song, the speaker expresses a deep longing for someone and his loneliness without this person. The words to me have a connotation of loss--he used to be with the woman, but now he's lost her.
Pretty sure these are the complete lyrics:
Sleep in a room that knows your name Nights in a pile, your house arranged Taped to the walls what's strong at all Goes with you For all who fight sleep For all who fight to sleep Tear down the wall, you sleep in jail Passion thrown and in and out of here Burned on the wrist, make loving fists For what you miss For all who fight sleep For all who fight to sleep Here by the wayside, spinning before my eyes Here, where the kids desire what we despise Here, where I can clam up with the good times calling out the lies Calling out the truth Is I have held you closer than you'd imagine Beaming in my hands I have held you closer, you could imagine Flying from my hands
Not sure if he's really saying "for all who fight sleep" but the first time he says it it seems that the "to" is much less pronounced than the second time he says it, if it's even there at all. just how I heard it.
