The New Order Lyrics

Would you open the door
Son I know the way
Soon the flickering light
Will grow
Lieave it to me now
Unchained
Unchained
Would you open the door
Enter the here and now
A new horizon
You'll rise you'll fall
And learn to live
Keep the faith - keep the pace

Your soul's like water but
Your fate is like the wind

Here's the new order
Hope shall be your guide
Praise the new order
Now let my spirit go

Do you remember
When we were moon knights?
We've slain the dragon
In the room
Now yours is the future
Your quest for the truth
How will it end up
I really do not know

This is no wonderland
Just keep in mind
Like a spell in certain books
Time will change it all

Away - oh please embrace me
Away - I will be gone
I'll take a look to see
What lies beyond
The break of dawn
Would you open the door
There is so much more to say

Keep the faith
Keep the pace
The soul's like water but
Your fate is like the wind

Here's the new order
Hope shall be your guide
Praise the new order
Now let my spirit go

Will you remember the old rule?
Will you fulfill this sacrifice?
Done for the future
Space for the new
How will it end up?
That's up to you

You're on the bridge -
On the borderline
No matter how
You'll never ever leave it

Here's the new order
Hope shall be your guide
Praise the new order
Now let my spirit go

Times will change

The soul's like water and
Like rain it will return

Live on in healing rain

The past shall find release

I don't think it's intentional, but this song reminds me a lot of the dawning of the 'Age of Men' on Middle-Earth from the perspective of the elves, as they depart and leave men to rule. There's also the mention of moon knights, slaying dragons, and their souls being like water and like rain they will return, as elves were a kind of natural spirit bound forever to Arda. On death, they passed to the Halls of Mandos, which was still on that planet, where Men's spirits passed on to unknown realms beyond the world after death.

@SalmonGod I don't think it's written thinking of the elves, but you're spot on about the part of being the yesterday that has to take it's leave so the new today can take it's place.

this song sounds so magical imo, I wonder why no one has commented on this yet.

To me, this song is about...well...change, and sometimes the past may seem better than what you're facing now..

well thats what the last line said, imo.

Seeing as this song is on the first album (and really, the first project of any kind) Blind Guardian released since the departure of Thomen Stauch, their original drummer of 20 years, I'm going to guess the lyrics pertaining to changes, moving on, accepting the new way things are now, etc. are subtle references to Blind Guardian themselves.
