I get the message of the song in the context of "Tommy" but seperated from the rock opera whenever I hear the "See me Feel me" part I can't help thinking about the ressurected Jesus and " Doubting Thomas". I guess that's what 8 years of Catholic grammar school does to you.
I would really like to have the artists interpretation. My interpretation is that it's Jesus after arising and telling his disciples that it's really him. He shows them his scares. From the nails and others on his side and tells them to touch them. He initially says see me. Then says feel me. Then says touch me.
this is my favorite song from tommy. when taken in the context of the album and the opera, i don't think it has anything to do with a band or the band. it is tommy speaking to his followers and them speaking back about what he makes them feel. just my two cents...
What are you talking about??
hey EmporerEzekeil, i hate you.
This is a really good song.....i've only heard it on the Woodstock Soundtrack LP set, but i like the wat it fades in from "Wooden Ships" to "See Me, Feel Me" if you haven't heard it it is a nice deep guitar bit and the lyrics go "We foresake you, gonna rape you, won't forget you.....very nice.
If you like this song, you should really check out the live version of woodstock, and at isle of wight.. great shows...
according to Roger... Woodstock was the worst show The Who Ever played.

Of course Acevans is right. I'd never thought about how the opening lyrics might sound to someone who doesn't connect it to tbe rock opera, "Tommy". Great song.
This song is a prayer, same with bargain... Petes spiritually, the whole Meher Baba thing. look at the words and try and contradict me
@Stutteringpunk Totally a pure Baba song, retrofitted to the Tommy story. People who are not Baba lovers can also think of Jesus (an avatar, like Baba) or the sun. The millions right behind Baba has still not quite materialised I think...

This song is about the sun. Tommy wakes up after being knocked out for the whole night after the riots at the camp, and before he wakes up, the see me feel me part is what he hears, and the first thing he sees is the sun. Following you, I climb the mountains. If you try to run to the sun and follow it, you're gonna climb some mountains on the way
I really enjoy Tommy, both the rock opera and the movie. The story really speaks to me on a personal level. Much like Tommy, I feel like I've been blind, deaf, and dumb in a sense for much of my life, but now I feel free! As for the last song, I'm not quite sure if I understand it, but my interpretation is that Tommy finally becomes enlightened when he wanders under the waterfall, where I believe he was conceived.
