First of all: Thank you Valle for submitting all the new lyrics...great work! This is my favourite song and it's plain simple: it's about a soul decision - a really hard decision!
As far as I can work out the song is either referring to the all entrapping nature of a really important choice (a soul decision if you will).
It also appears feasible that the song is about death (as in the grim reaper), especially prevalent in verse 1.
