Sunday Morning Lyrics

Chorus:
Everyday is Saturday night, but I can't wait for Sunday morning, Sunday morning

It's the same thing, back in the cold
People know people come and go
It bores me
Same thing
Seems like I'm trapped in the world where the servants they serve time
Time waits on no man
So when people fall like me
I

Chorus (x2)

Walking down blocks
Pictures don't stop
Pictures inside my dome
This is not me
I'm just afraid to be here all alone
Hurry up, wait
Quit it don't stop
I'm drowning in the self
This is not me
Where is my revolution, but
If you want to own me
I am not concerned
If you follow me
I know that I can learn
You might be the greatest thing I've ever seen
All I know is music
All, All I've ever known

Chorus (x2)

(Let's go! x4)

Chorus (x3)

Here's what he said about it in an inteview:

In the glitchy, Gorillaz-style track "Sunday Morning," k-os reveals that he does his share of partying, but the outspoken bachelor still looks back fondly at a time when Sunday mornings meant something more.

"Sunday morning was always about church and food and family. Then I moved down to Toronto and Sunday morning became about Advil gelcaps," he says with a laugh. "This song is about an individual who realizes how sacred Sunday morning used to be and he can't wait until Sunday morning is something that helps him out instead of a day of rest. My parents have been married for over 40 years and I will eventually become like them and have 10 kids and do my thing, but until then, everyday is Saturday night."

Yeah, I agree. I don't really get what he's trying to say is so special about Sunday morning... Maybe I'm missing something. Unless he's referring to church, which I doubt.

hey redstar3313, thanks for that! I was wondering what it was about. That's awesome. Now I like this song even more. I love k-os, his songs seem personal and real, and musically innovative.

Beat me to the words redstar. I heard it on Q101, it sounded like a great song so I got it off of Itunes.

Basically, I agree w/ redstar.

But from a perspective of if you hadn't read the interview, this is what I would say.

Every day is saturday night, go out, party, have fun. Almost ignoring the fact that life and time continues around him. He says,"It's the same thing, back in the cold People know people come and go It bores me" Sounds like to me hes tired of the party life now, and he can't wait till Sunday morning. Assuming he's Christian (w/o reading the interview), its a chance at redemption, to start again, but I can see it's an empty promise, he drifts back into the party scene. He goes back for the music, for a certain women maybe, but most importantly because he can't stop. There's something he feels he's missing something, and the hollow Saturday scene seems to keep him around for the time.

has anyone seen the video to this song? I want to know what it means.

Theres this big dance where he is singing but its just african american people. Then some caucasian guy puts a mike near the band thats hooked up to a speaker in the basement where a bunch of people are dancing-but they are all caucasian.

am i missing some deep profound signs with this?

For me, it's about the anticipation of waking up to a new day in the morning with opportunities to do something more than just party and live in excess (alcohol, etc). He acknowledges how empty the Saturday nights are, but he's surrounded by the excess and doesn't want to be alone (as he states in the chorus). When following morning comes around (on Sunday), he's no longer in that environment and feels a bit more excited.

At college, I love waking up on Sunday mornings, it's relatively peaceful. The only other souls awake are the maintenance men and the small animals (squirrels and birds).

CourageousInsanity, if I remember correctly, he does not practice a particular religion, but he has explored and studied many of them, and while growing up, his parents practiced Christianity.

There's more info on his website about his songs.
