The Doberman Lyrics
Silence in the yard
Doberman's asleep
You never have to lay your head down here
Watch them disappear
The truth is they never had no future
They never had no past
I was alone
I was alone again
This beat on London's sky
Whiskey's almost dry
I smile 'cause I've already escaped
Just to like to see how far I can take it
They never had no future
They never had no past
I was alone
I was alone again
Doberman's asleep
You never have to lay your head down here
Watch them disappear
The truth is they never had no future
They never had no past
I was alone
I was alone again
Whiskey's almost dry
I smile 'cause I've already escaped
Just to like to see how far I can take it
They never had no past
I was alone
I was alone again

hey inmymindseye could you repeat that? XD
This song was written as a retort to a guy who wrote off kasabians chances of making it big. It was the last song they played when i went to see them at the begining of the year, and they told the crowd this before they started playing.
Excellent song.
I'm not entirely sure that the line 'I smile 'cause I've already been escaped' is correct. Any comments on this?
i believe it's just "i smile cause i've escaped" and yes good song
god i love this, but i don't get what it could mean
Not a clue to what it mean but wow what a trumpet solo, even better live!!
I think this song is about the end of war mainly because the album as a whole is based on this theme and also the lyric "...silence on the yard.." is symbolism of the end and silence the war has left behind.

You have to repeat for emphasis, karmax. Your quote did raise a smile though. :)
