Almaz Lyrics

She only smiles
He only tells her
that she's the flowers, the wind and spring
In all her splendor sweetly surrendering
The love that innocence brings

Almaz, pure and simple
Born in a world where love survives
Now men will want her
'Cause life don't haunt her
Almaz, you lucky, lucky thing

Now I watch closely
And I watch wholly
I can't imagine love so rare
She's young and tender
But will life bend her
I look around is she everywhere

Almaz, pure and simple
Born in a world where love survives
Now men will want her
'Cause life don't haunt her
Almaz, you lucky, lucky thing

He throws her kisses
She shares his wishes
I'm sure he's keen without a doubt
With love so captive
So solely captive
I ask if I could play the part

Almaz, pure and simple
Born in a world where love survives
Now men will want her
'Cause life don't haunt her
Almaz, you lucky, lucky thing

Almaz, you lucky, lucky thing
Almaz, you lucky, lucky thing

This song means a lot to me. I believe the singer is watching a couple in amazement. Almaz has obviously had something bad happen to her in her past, and the singer is astonished that she can still love freely and with all her heart. The singer asks herself is she could play the part of the careless lover if the same past which Almaz had, was hers. xXx

@kikixx think it's the singer that has experienced pain not the young woman Almaz, as someone who has felt pain might struggle to play the part of carefree in love.

Almaz is a girl's name. She is desribing how lucky Almaz is for having such a beautiful love life. This song is so deep.

Crawford told The Daily Telegraph October 27, 2008 about the inspiration for this ballad. Said Crawford: "These Eritrean refugees knocked on my door. It turned out they had just moved in and wanted to invite their new neighbor to dinner. Of course I went but the African food they served wasn't to my taste." The singer added: "I witnessed this perfect love affair between them, although she was considerably younger than him. This beautiful couple with their baby. As refugees they were looking for 'a world where love survives'." The Eritean man asked Crawford to write a song about his wife, whose name was Almaz, which means diamond. She agreed and this song was the result. However, she told The Daily Telegraph that, "when I came to play it to them they had moved again. So as far as I know, they never heard it."

Randy is viewing the couple in amazement and as she has experienced love and pain and wonders is she ever real, to love without fear is someone who has never been her in love as life and pain re shapes the heart. This is my favourite song and I want played at my funeral. ♢ Almaz ♢
