Memories & Dust Lyrics
First I was a hatchling waiting for my little bones to form
Next I was a fledging leaping from the nest despite the fall
oh they fall, how we fall
But if I speak to you of days upon the ocean
I can speak to you of memories and dust
There won’t be time for all of us,
I know there won’t be time for all of us
I landed in the garden longing for the view behind the fence
Oh my god
I prayed my bones weren’t brittle
For the air we float on can feel dense
Oh the weight of it aches
But if I speak to you of days upon the ocean
I can speak to you of memories and dust
There won’t be time for all us,
I know there won’t be time for all of us
’cause I saw two fall before they were ready to
and I found no sense or gain to bear the cost
comfort comes to those with faith in mysterious ways
But for me faith don’t make up for what we lost
But if I speak to you of days upon the ocean
I can speak to you of memories and dust
There won’t be time for all us,
I know there won’t be time for all of us
But in the morning I can smell you on my pillow
I need to know we won’t get wrung out in the wash
I need to know there’s time for us
I must believe there’s time for some of us
’cause I saw two fall before they were ready to
and I found no sense or gain to bear the cost
comfort comes to those with faith in mysterious ways
But for me faith don’t make up for what we lost
Next I was a fledging leaping from the nest despite the fall
oh they fall, how we fall
But if I speak to you of days upon the ocean
I can speak to you of memories and dust
There won’t be time for all of us,
I know there won’t be time for all of us
Oh my god
I prayed my bones weren’t brittle
For the air we float on can feel dense
Oh the weight of it aches
But if I speak to you of days upon the ocean
I can speak to you of memories and dust
There won’t be time for all us,
I know there won’t be time for all of us
and I found no sense or gain to bear the cost
comfort comes to those with faith in mysterious ways
But for me faith don’t make up for what we lost
I can speak to you of memories and dust
There won’t be time for all us,
I know there won’t be time for all of us
I need to know we won’t get wrung out in the wash
I need to know there’s time for us
I must believe there’s time for some of us
and I found no sense or gain to bear the cost
comfort comes to those with faith in mysterious ways
But for me faith don’t make up for what we lost

Chickens. :) Simple as that. It's a story about a little chicken He lived with alot of other little chickens When they got old enough, the little chickens left home. As all good chickens do. But 2 of the other little chickens didn't make it, and they fell out of the nest. But this little chicken goes on an adventure. A mystical adventure of adventuresomeness. There are ups and downs. But all round, he has a jolly good time.
Hmm, this song is awesome. I think the song is about faith and having faith in like a new relationship, or an old one. Any relationship. So yeah, faith and relationships. It's almost like he has no faith, then he does, then by the end he doesn't again. Or that's just the feeling I get, I dunno. Someone else?
yeah it's a great song.
i think it's about growing up too fast, and missing out on something as a result. "i saw two fall before they were ready to"
sounds like he wants more time to enjoy what he's got before he has to move on in life and this becomes a memory.
The key lyrics to the song are: "I saw two fall before they were ready to and I found no sense or gain to bear the cost comfort comes to those with faith in mysterious ways But for me faith don’t make up for what we lost"
Two people died young, Josh couldn't see the point, people always say to "have faith in God's mysterious ways" when you can't understand why someone dies young, but Josh is still focussed on his loss and faith isn't enough to overcome this sense of loss.
"But in the morning I can smell you on my pillow I need to know we won’t get wrung out in the wash I need to know there’s time for us I must believe there’s time for some of us"
Even though "there won't be time for all of us" there is still a sense of hopefulness in this song...almost like Josh is pleading with fate to give him a chance to make the best of his life with his loved one.
I'm not sure about the lyrics, but the actual sound of the song is one of hope and great potential, as if something really big is going to start.
clare 123000 is very close.
The line "I found no sense or gain to bear the cost" reminds me very much of the position of Ivan Karamazov in Dostoyevskay's "Brother's Karamazov."
superfantastisch has departed far away from the author's meaning. This is not about faith at all or having faith. In fact, he says right out that he does not share the path of those who have "faith in mysterious ways."
It is about having hope, or even just wanting hope, despite having no faith, something quite different.
Pyke wants the impossilbe: we'll never know how much time there is, and we doesn't really need to. But believing there's time is wise.
Beautiful song.
Michael746 you're absolutely right about the sound of the song.
two girls from his road crew died on tour, and that's who the two are.
