Bless His Ever Loving Heart Lyrics
bless his ever loving heart
only he knows who you are
he may seem so very far
bless his ever loving heart
and when you're feeling sad
and everywhere you look
you can't believe the things you see
when it all comes down so bad
and beauty lies exhausted in the street
hold his ever loving hand
even when you do not understand
sorrow has its natural hand
hold his ever loving hand
when you're feeling low
and everyone you meet
you can't believe the things they say
when there's no place left to go
where someone is moving you a little further down the way
bless his ever loving heart
what you do is what you are
when it all comes down so hard
bless his ever loving heart
hold his ever loving hand
when it seems you ain't got a friend
only he knows who you are, what you are
bless his ever loving heart
bless his ever loving heart
only he knows who you are
he may seem so very far
bless his ever loving heart
and everywhere you look
you can't believe the things you see
when it all comes down so bad
and beauty lies exhausted in the street
even when you do not understand
sorrow has its natural hand
hold his ever loving hand
and everyone you meet
you can't believe the things they say
when there's no place left to go
where someone is moving you a little further down the way
what you do is what you are
when it all comes down so hard
bless his ever loving heart
when it seems you ain't got a friend
only he knows who you are, what you are
bless his ever loving heart
bless his ever loving heart

Certainly a bit yukky and didn't of course make the record (the best he ever did btw) but love the line - 'and beauty lies exhausted in the street.' I wait for that line every time I play it.
@toperic02 It's absolutely wonderful, I could not agree more.

I love 99% of Nick Cave's songs, but when he sinks into writing bad hymns - ewww, pass the sick-bag!
@morbid morag Some of his very best are like hymns: e.g. 'And no more shallow part' or 'Brompton Oratory.' You don't have to be religious (as I'm not) to enjoy them. Just open up a bit.
