Silver Tiles Lyrics

three teeth left his silver smile
brushed clean three metal tiles
and tiles like parking lots
three miles it never stops boy
you'll be okay boy
your silver tiles

and all our hopes
and all our friends
through parking lots
it's where we've been

shoes have grown mighty old
pants faded knees with holes
stitched up now silver thread
fixed up now like i said boy
you'll be okay boy
your silver thread boy
your silver tiles
your silver bones

and all our hopes
and all our friends
through parking lots
i found this
b i got in school

three teeth left his sliver smile
burnt skin from miles and miles
of crossing parking lots
three miles it never stops boy
you'll be okay boy
your silver tiles
your silver bones
with silver sides

and all our hopes
and all our friends
through parking lots
i found this
b i got in school

and all our hopes
and all our friends
through parking lots
i found this
b i got in school
it's the b i got in school

at first, i thought of silver tiles as braces, but after not making rash judgements, i realised they could be mirrors. the silver tiles seem to be reflecting all the hopes, friends, times spent in parking lots, etcetera as would a mirror if we could see our memories.

either way, it's a darling song.

well, im not sure how to explain the begining... but in a way i understand it. (if that makes sense)

but, at the end i feel its trying to say, that its okay that you come second.

talking about the b in school. its because of the b in school.

and the whole silver thing. its second. first gold, then silver.

thats what i get from this song anyway.

yeah i see what you mean. I think after everything, you'll always be judged subordinately. never making it to the top in the eyes of the beholder. its like getting jobs, life, and shit, you'll never prevail because of the b you got when you were 17.

I think this song is about friendship. 1st they talk about how ther person's smile is big and call it silver tiles, then in the choras it means with their friends they smile. I think the next part is saying everything is going to be okay if you smile. then i think its about not everything is going to be a perfect 'A'. but that's just what i think.

The song is saying it's ok to come in 2nd place. Silver is second to gold, B's second to A's, and so on.

The way I see it is that a guy lost 3 teeth and got them replaced with false, silver teeth. And when it says "like parking lots, three miles it never stops" meaning the teeth are so noticeable and people wont stop making fun of him. then for the chorus, it says all his hopes and friends are changing because of them. Then for verse two, he starts not caring about himself (shoes have grown old, pants faded etc.) and everything in the world to him revolves around his silver tiles. For chorus 2, the b in school part probably means he was a straight-A student and the tiles have affected his life so much it changed his grades. Then in verse 3 I think he learns to live with it and its all okay :D

At a show he legit said this song is about knocking his brother's teeth out

..... And it's a kickass song in general....

At a concert, they said it was for their original fans - those who watched them in parking lots, (odd places before they became so popular). one fan shouted "and hospitals" and matt replied "yeah, i think we played in a hospital once!" ^-^

just appreciating their happy beginning is my interpretation!

Really great song. I can some-what relate to it... I guess with the "I found this B I got in school" . I'm not really sure what the lyrics mean......

I saw them a few months back and before they played the song Matt said that they always play that song whenever they play a city they've never played before.

He said that it's about when he was in high school him and all his friend used to hang out in a parking lot and i quote to "Shut the fuck up, it was a sweet fucking parking lot!" haha.

So basically it's about that time in his life, the friends, the surroundings, etc. that all revolved around that parking lot. So whatever the individual might gather from the lyrics, are what it's about, no real hidden meaning here.
