Chasing Ghosts With Alcohol Lyrics
Well it's been more than a year since I lived by the sea
And though we both have been moving
You came back to me
And I remember the old songs
We threw off the pier
They've been burnt and forgotten
They sink, disappear
Take one day of my old lifestyle
Passing ghosts in the street
I chased them away with alcohol
But they don't get drunk
The ghosts around your city
Have all got my name
I wondered why I'm glowing
I wonder how I'm glowing
I wondered why I'm glowing
I wondered how I'm glowing
And though we both have been moving
You came back to me
We threw off the pier
They've been burnt and forgotten
They sink, disappear
Passing ghosts in the street
I chased them away with alcohol
But they don't get drunk
Have all got my name
I wondered why I'm glowing
I wonder how I'm glowing
I wondered why I'm glowing
I wondered how I'm glowing

I'll take a stab at this one-
I think that by "ghosts" he means all the people and problems in his life, both the good and the bad. Now, he is reminiscing about these people, and how his problem with alcohol secluded him from these things. By "I wondered why I'm glowing," I think he means theat he lost himself in the process (being a "ghost" himself). Some of the lyrics may prove contrary, so this is just a thought. Overall, though, no matter what the lyrics mean, this is still a killer song!
Awesome song. He's revisiting a place, whether physical or mental, where he once was. That place is defined by his memories of it, made vivid again by being there. These memories are his ghosts. While he tries to drink the memories away, they stay just as clear while he gets more and more inebriated. The glowing part is definitely wide open to interpretation, but maybe that's the effects of drink on him. He's oddly happy despite the harder memories.
