I think this song is about a guy who loves a girl but she always loves another guy "You say that you love him" and she always feels he is only a friend "You see me as a friend". But, then in the end of the song he dies and finally she loves him, but it's too late "So if you feel that you need me, I'm here beside you. Can't you see me?"

Just my opinion, take what you will of it X)
