Diffientia translates to mistrust, so this is the song on be where imago is no longer pure and begins to rebel against god. This song is bassically about man questioning god and his existence, and is also about mans anger at god for what is happening. Animae also sees what has become of mankind and so begins to shrink and fade, ie wither away from existence as animaes existence is no longer nesaccary as money is now imagos god.
I believe this song to about the development of man, and science. Mankind has changed so much from the way God created them, and many of them now no longer believe in a God (Imago is man and Animae is God). The shards analogy is in another song on the album, mankind were shards of the whole, together they made their creator, but that was then and this is now.
