Blood & Wine Lyrics

I've been with Sally
I've been with Sue
I've been with Cindy and her sister too.
Now I'm tryin' to settle down,
Start a family wiith that cute little Kim.
But now that I've tasted blood,
Now this wine tastes too thin.

I've got a needle, don't be alarmed.
It shoots streams of lovely things into my arm.
Well I'd sell my own mother for that sweet heroin.
Oh, now that I've tasted blood,
Now this wine seems too thin.

Sometimes the white coats; They hide black hearts.
We've learned to sugar coat the same black arts.
Well, I turn lead into gold
I'll cure original sin.
Oh, now that I've tasted blood,
Now this wine seems too thin.

Oh, well I walked in the bank
And I pulled out my gun.
You should've seen those people scream and run.
I used to make an honest buck;
How can I go back to that again?
Oh, now that I've tasted blood,
Now this wine seems too thin.
Oh, now that I've tasted blood,
Now this wine seems too thin.
Oh, now that I've tasted blood,
Now this weein seems too thin.

i think you got the meaning wrong, lolz this song really isnt about someone getting closer to god as much as its about someone giving in more and more into the flesh, which is basically the opposite direction

as far as deducing the lyrics ( which are wrong on here by the way) is musically and sonically build a progression which i believe is intentional to show the deeper levels of depravity this person is going through: they start off sleeping around, then they given into substance abuse, then it goes into a reckless regard for peoples lives, with the bank robbery at the end.

also 'blood' is being used in a context that is evil , in that it is being taken or selfishly kinda infused into the person metaphorically through them taking it from various sources, almost like a drug, the feeling from these 'bloody actions' is justification enough for the process, and basically once you get on bigger 'high' of drugs or deeper evils, its very hard to go back to the innocense or 'wine' that you originally possessed

this song is very similar to 'blood clots and black holes' from AitA by Thrice also, about the kind of false idol of drugs or highs ideology that lots of people especially 'victimized' americans give into

This is one of my favorites from the new album, truy amazing both lyrically and musically. A bluesy folk song about how someone's life is changing as they have found God. The theme is perfect, Now that I've tasted Blood this wine is too thin, meaning once he has found God (blood - communion, last supper) sins and other pleasures from life don't mean anything to them anymore and all they want is to serve God.

I wasn't sure at first, but I think I agree with Laidbackdude.

I think "Blood" is referring to the actions of the flesh in this song, and "wine" being the blood of Christ and how it will be hard to overcome the temptations, even with Christ, now that you have tasted blood.

If you are born again, you can probably relate. Christ does give you clean slate, but your mind doesn't forget all that you have done or all that you have "tasted."

im sure it can be interpreted many ways...we may never know unless we ask Dustin himself...but i actually agree with bmac12canes.

This song is about Dustin pretending to be Johnny Cash, unfortunately, cocaine, guns, and women? and faking an accent too. what happened?

Johnny Cash anyone? it sounds exactly like jackson! I LOVE IT!

I thought Johnny Cash right away. It's weird that I like it. It's mesmerizing, though.
