Until We Fall Lyrics

I walk the streets where I regret, ah-ah-ah
I stood along and watched myself fall apart
And said the voices in my head, ah-ah-ah
Slipped through the chain link of a broken heart

And when I'm tired of feeling black
Spread the wings upon your back
Take us high above it all
Stroke your feathers 'til we fall back down again, ah-ah-ah

But everything that sounded good,
I understand that I'll be misunderstood

And when I'm tired of feeling black
Spread the wings upon your back
Take us high above it all
Stroke your feathers 'til we fall
Until we fall, until we fall back down again
Yeah, back down again

What do you feel before you think?
What do you see before you blink?
Who do you battle in your dreams?
Who strokes your feathers 'til you scream?

And when I'm tired of feeling black
Spread the wings upon your back
Take us high above it all
And stroke you're feathers 'till we fall
Until we fall, until we fall back down again
Yeah, back down again...

Man this song is awesome. I mean, we've only heard the acoustic version and we already know it's gonna be a killer track. It's hard to believe cornell can still write so well after writing so many songs for soundgarden, audioslave, and even his solo stuff...there's no stoppin this guy...

Does anyone else think this is about sex? I mean the idea was planted in my head by the line "who strokes your feathers until you scream" ('feathers' here being a loose metaphor...) but the rest of the song works with it. He's just sick of the world, everything's too complicated and he wants to forget everything in his past, but it's all in the moment with her and he just escapes into it... I think it's a nice complement to "Nothing Left to Say but Goodbye," if we assume he's talking about the same relationship.

I think the song makes some sort of an allusion to the Greek mythology story about Daedalus and Icarus. The two are locked up in jail with each other, so Daedalus, Icarus' father makes wings which have feathers stuck to them with wax for the both of them so they can escape. Icarus flies too high and the wax melts and Icarus dies. Daedalus is left heartbroken at the loss of his son.

the original is almost acoustic too. really great song.

I love this song...It's a nice break from the rest of the album, as it's really the only full-fledged "ballad" on the album ("Moth" is close, but the harder guitar parts take that part away from it)

I would love to see this song get some radioplay...

It's about Cornell (or more fitting, the protagonist) just wanting to get away...and never come back.

C.C. (as I like to call him) hasn't missed a beat since his Soundgarden days...

The lyrics on this song aren't entirely correct. How do I edit this?

I totally love this song, but does anyone else kinda think they verses resemble "I am the Highway" a little? Anyway, great song, great vocals, great guitar (just like Highway)
