Bandstand In The Sky Lyrics
Come with me to a place that we don't know
Come with me, I just wanna say hello
If you need some inspiration before we go
Just know
It's the way I have fallen in with you
It's the way I have fallen in with you
So come with me to a river I have seen
On the way we can wash off in the stream
Time is waiting for the lightning to arrive
You can take my life but I'll never die
You can tell that's the way I'll survive
So here we are now
A couple of fools
Driving around here with nothing to do
We just made a bad decision
That's alright
You can take my life but I'll never die
You can tell that's the way I'll survive
Heading for the bandstand in the sky
Come with me, I just wanna say hello
If you need some inspiration before we go
Just know
It's the way I have fallen in with you
It's the way I have fallen in with you
On the way we can wash off in the stream
Time is waiting for the lightning to arrive
You can take my life but I'll never die
You can tell that's the way I'll survive
A couple of fools
Driving around here with nothing to do
That's alright
You can take my life but I'll never die
You can tell that's the way I'll survive
Heading for the bandstand in the sky

i love these lyrics. i can't decide whether i like the fast version on live from new jersey or the slow version better. they're so different. i like the fast one because it is such a contrast from the sad lyrics but the slow one is also so good, almost elliot smith-esque.
I had the same feeling as 'reinacoes' but I think I'm actually gradually liking both versions as seperate songs. Well, appreciating them, because I love them both. As a UK fan listening to the song the first time I heard it was on LFNJ, although Pete refers to it as being a slow song on that, I never thought it would be put on his next cd. I must say I love the slow version having got used to it, the guitar riff at the end just completely rounds up the album so beautifully, for me. It's a measure of the mans talent that he can write a song so poetic that sounds amazing in two different tempos.
i saw Pete Yorn in Sydney on the 12th October and he sang this song... It was just beautiful... He said that it was written the day Jeff Buckley died and since then had been sung for Elliot Smith and Aaron Spelling and Steve Irwin... Gorgeous
beautiful song for any of the musical artists we have lost over the years. Pete Yorn's new album is my favorite of 2006, hands down.
"you can take my life, but I'll never die. You can tell that's they way I'll survive."
that line is just perfect.
beautiful song..and it really makes me happy to know it's dedicated to elliott smith, one of the greatest artists of all time
correction, it was written for Jeff Buckley who drowned in the Wolf River (part of the Mississippi) in 1997.
