Blueprints for Future Homes Lyrics

Like miracles like Clockwork and like miracles
you witnessed halos, but you failed to see its horns.
the illusion of intelligence, a continuous sounding bell.
and can feel the interruption in the air? Can you feel the static?
I've never seen you like this. Well

Yea well that's what I said. Drive drive vultures home.
You're killing me. Just bury me. yea Well that's what I said. And I said exactly what I meant.you're killing me, just bury me

Holy Ghosts and talk show hosts. How i panic as you fail. your conscience is a wolf. walls are being built, deception wears its veil and her charm is fleeting but her love just will not last.
Far from men you hang and sway with no defender. pushed around by the noise of this carefree crowd. I will not sleep while you are throwing
anchors to a drowning generation.

yea well that's what I said. Drive drive vultures home.
You're killing me. Just bury me. yea Well that's what I said. And I said exactly what I meant.you're killing me, just bury me. yea well thats what i said, yea well thats what i said, yea thats what i said, yea thats what i said

Hell is empty, the devils are here.
I will never sleep

I'm not going to pretend that I totally understand Norma Jean's lyrics, but I do have to say that a lot of you, not all of you but many, are overlooking the metaphorical:

"Like miracles like Clockwork and like miracles"

  • probably saying how the so called mirales produced by teleevangelists are "produced" like clockwork, as if they were just a simple occurence produced by a man of faith rather than an act of God

"you witnessed halos, but you failed to see its horns."

  • teleevangelists tend to have a holier than thou attitude, like they were directly chosen by God as his instruments of intervention. the "horns" are the deception, teleevangelists are liars and thieves who live to make a profit rather than to glorify God, in the end hurting how Christianity is viewed by the world

"the illusion of intelligence, a continuous sounding bell."

  • I would think that this is referring to something along the lines of how teleevangelists claim to know the way to salvation but they themselves live a life devoted to themselves and furthering their own name.

"I've never seen you like this."

  • maybe here he is referring to Jesus and the Christian religion in general and how it/he is being portrayed by tele-evangelists

"Drive drive vultures home."

  • I think the vultures are the tele-evangelists...it makes more sense if you read it as: "drive the vultures away"

"Holy Ghosts and talk show hosts."

  • this pretty much sums up how I got to my view of the meaning of this song

"How i panic as you fail."

  • as a Christian you want others to be brought to Christ but tele-evangelists paint a view of Christ that is simply a fraud, and their actions turn away the more sensible

"your conscience is a wolf. walls are being built, deception wears its veil and her charm is fleeting but her love just will not last."

  • they are blind to their lies and actions, their actions are building walls (barriers) between God and those who see the hypocrisy and lies.

...anyways that's my two sense

and PhilxBefore I totally agree with you on the ancient foundation/carpenter thing

My Opinion

Amazing song. I think this song is talkiing about a false prophet, or possibly a false truth, yeah, probably a false philosophy

"you witnessed halos, but you failed to see its horns" Seeing a very godly, very spiritual pastor or "truth", which turns out to be of the devil

"walls are being built, deception wears its veil" many are being fooled by the pastor, preacher or philosophy, so the new philosophy is a wall keeping us away from the actual Truth

"her charm is fleeting but her love just will not last" the new philosophy sounds good and feels good, but sooner or later, people are gonna realize that it's false, either that or some already have.

"I will not sleep while ou are throwing anchors to a drowning genreation" The writer sees all this happening, and will not rest until this philosophy, which is ruining peoples' lives, is destroyed.

"Hell is empty, the devils are here" Kinda self-explanatory

No you fool, it's about how Christianity is too comercial these days, especially in America. Norma Jean is a Christian Hardcore band, most of their songs incorporate Christianity somewhere. But you were on the right lines.

yeah I will. And not all there songs deal with Christianity directly. Cemetary Like a Stage is about Corey's dad passing way when he was young.

What's the title supposed to mean? -Blueprints for Future Homes. Let me give you a hint: Carpenter.

The song seems to be about destructive relationships in general. It's not necessarily about marraige or even dating. Like clockwork and like miracles means that this stuff happens over and over again and... the miracles part is lost to me. Maybe it's a miracle that we let it happen after seeing it so much? The part about halos and horns is about how people put on a fake exterior to those they want to like them and we often fail to see the bad in anyone. "The illusion of intelligence, a continuous sounding bell" seems to be about how their lack of knowledge about something, possibly about you, should be a warning bell to you about them hiding their true intentions and true personality. Interruption in the air and static is kinda like when you feel something is wrong but can't tell what it is, the hair on your neck stands up or you get goosebumps. And the line right before the chorus is when the person reveals his/herself a little bit. The chorus is of course about having the courage to stand up and say, yes this is what i really mean. Driving the vultures home is like telling that person to get out of your life because they're feeding their ego or whatever off of your misery and the hurt they cause. Of course one of the ways to stop vultures is to bury them which could be a reference to leaving that person forever, burying that relationship. Holy ghosts and talk show hosts are two things that people rely on in these situations, some pray to God, some turn to advice from people like oprah which often can be a bad idea in my opinion. A conscience being a wolf means that the other person in the relationship has a conscience that is hunting them down but fails to finally take over because the person has built walls and uses deception to keep you. Her charm is fleeting but her love just will not last seems to be self explanatory, the person has a "honeymoon" phase and then after that they go downhill, basically the entire premise of the song. the far from men part might be a reference to how the woman he's talking about cheats and goes out spending their time away from the person who loves them. "I will not sleep while you are throwing anchors to a drowning generation" means that he is doing everything he can to stop the influence that you cause by your actions which bring down a generation that is already losing itself in things that are harmful. Hell is empty, the devils are here is not only a belief held by christian doctrine that satan's demons are out here but also talks about how common it is that these types of negative influential people are.

To me, this song is about when someone marries someone they loved, but now they see another side of them. They don't like it and regreat ever wanting to be with them. It's killing them to be with this person and just want to get away.

By the way, this song is on their new album, Redeemer.
