Firstly, I'm uncertain as to the lyric, "You were in the danger zone / I saw it in the telephone". It was transcribed by ear from a really old cassette recording, and this was the best I was able to get out of it. If anyone has the liner notes, corrections would be appreciated.
Moving on: I'm not entirely certain as to the lyrics' meaning. I get the impression it's about prostitution ("Set in the dark of night / In the shadow of a streetlight / Uncover your role tonight /Anonymous"), but given the singer's background find this to be something of a stretch. Either way, it's a rather atmospheric song given how most early-'80s synthpop tends to come across, and both the lyrics and vocals add to its atmosphere - secretive yet slightly wistful.
