Shadow Walk Lyrics

Parallel in step—an echo so correct
From the land of no body
Well attuned to you—and everything you do
In perfect harmony

Better see me when the light is right
See me when you’re all alone
So cleverly timed we coincide
Wherever we may go

You and I are very much a likeness
Two together one and all
But I depend on you to make me move
Shadow walk

One weightless shape—a blatant double-take
Concurrent entity
Will follow you—and everything you do
In mobile symmetry

Better see me when the light is right
See me when you’re all alone
So close in kind we always rhyme
Wherever we may go

You and I are very much a likeness
Two together one and all
But I depend on you to make me move
Shadow walk

An absolutely delightful song from Lene—who I always knew of as Lenny because it’s what her grandmother called her. Ran into her grandmother but not Lene. What’s missing here are the whoo-oo-oo-oo-oos that make this song so cool.
And I am sb’s delightful—a matter of opinion with others who’ve run into me—shadow walk partner—doing the concurrent entity thing with her. I absolutely adore going back to the early days when I had just arrived—what an impossible little spitfire … I showed up to be her bodyguard but ended up asking her if she would be my bodyguard—made so much more sense. I keep thinking she’s got balls tucked away in some hiding place I haven’t found yet. And why do I rhyme with her? Just to drive her nuts. Still, I do have to depend on her to make me move. [She rolls her eyes] You’ve managed to find your way around that minor obstacle in the past, so I know you know how to do it. We’re teasing, of course. Are we? We could pretend we are. Okay, but I’d rather play hide and seek. How do we do that? Thought you’d know. Thought you knew everything. You act like you do. Oh that’s just me. Part of my charm …and oh yeah, the song’s meaning? We could breathe the lyrics ….

I am visited by a man who is the god of foxes Fresh from his den We smile at one another My eyes leap The floor slants—the room slopes Things melt into each other Seeing the loose chaos of words on the page My circus and I are two individuals Joined together in life This is powerful knowledge We smile with it

I look into the blue gray gloom of dreariness Blooming on an osprey, frozen sky high to challenge me Glaring at me There is no beauty The exotic has come to an end There is nothing in the night but fast clouds I am caught in reveries of love I am in a room of light hell and warm heaven

Gentle love … gentle love … Wonder at wonder—in dreariness and beauty Aloof in perpetual un-amazed astonishment

McClure—Peyote Poem [paraphrased]
