Seventh Dream Of Teenage Heaven Lyrics

Put all down to chemistry
Put it all down to the heat
The seminal spark of sexuality
Put it all down to the heat

There was magic in the air on a Saturday night
It was tragic, it's there on the street
The quicksilver and the warm jets
Make your leopard-skin dream complete

Intrigued by alcove whispers
So you tore off your osgood tie
Facination found in strangeness
And your sister's alien sigh
Your sister's alien sigh

Put all down to chemistry
Put it all down to the heat
The seminal spark of sexuality
Put it all down to the heat

To wake up sunday morning
With a rubber stamped blue tattoo
So lay on the back of your skinny white hand
Suvonier of the brave and the new
Suvonier of the brave and the new

It's the seventh dream of teenage heaven

I saw L&R on this tour in San Francisco in the mid eighties, it was my first venture into something other than metal at the time, it was fucking incredible, they were so great then…

As for the meaning, I believe that, yes, it’s about attending a rock show at a young age, maybe a first and how it changes you forever. There’s definitely a sexual charge in the air at shows, so many beautiful people movin’ and groovin’ in the heat, the loud volume, smoke filled air and the colored lights as they strobe through darkness and then the girl or guy you’ve been checkin’ out all night goes just as crazy as you do when the band finally starts playing your favorite song, you share a smile and move closer and maybe more…ah, sweet memories! It seems that all the other lyric sites out there have done the same slaughter job to the last verse… I don’t know why, those words have always been clear as day for me, go figure…

Ok, this is correct...

Not 'rose and blue tatoo' it's 'rubber stamp blue tattoo, still there on the back of your skinny white hand' and I think it's 'put it all down to the beat' not 'heat'

It's about a young lad attending his first concert and how it changes him forever. He wakes up the next morning with the hand stamp still visable.

That's probably quite close to the truth, I remember reading an interview with them and Daniel Ash said it was about that moment when sexuality first enters your mind, giving an example of a concert he had been to as a young lad where he saw someone truly beautiful and striking, and that the song Seventh Dream... was about that moment.

Oops...it should be "So you tore off your old school tie" not good tie...
