Nevertheless - and in a nutshell, this is a brilliant song.

Obviously about someone being scared, and the singer reassuring her that he'll always be there for her regardless of what may happen and she's welcome to stay with him. Seems to me though that both the singer and whom he's singing to are past lovers.

Eh, but whatever, as I could be completely wrong but despite that, I love this song.

Aren't we all scared deep down inside? I love how this song goes from fairly upbeat to this somber mood when the chorus takes place, it is a great mixture of emotion in everway.

It definitly seems like he is singing about a girl who he is probably in a relationship with (or attempting to be in) but she has so many reservations that it is making things difficult, Albert could have wrote this song as a lullaby of sorts, to calm her nerves and put her at ease. But I think it can basically speak to all of humnaity as well with the overwhelmingly perfect lyrics:

my take on it is that this whole being scared business is: they have a past, as above people were saying which i agree with totally. but the person who is "scared" is the one the singer was with previously, and now that person is in another relationship. she's moved on, but not ACTUALLY moved on. she's with someone else, but still wants to be with the singer, and he knows it. that's why "i know you're still there because you're scared you'll lose everything"

it's hard to break out of a relationship, especially to be with an ex which makes it even harder, and would create a ton of fear. how many people do you know who are in relationships out of fear of breaking up, or being alone, or some other "fear" reason. he's basically saying, don't worry about it, i'll be here waiting when you come back, and that he' still fully there for her.

this song is pretty good, i just wish he added more lyrics instead of repeating the chorus halfway thru the song.

catchiest line in the whole song in my opinion. but either way, she's doing something that tells the singer she's scared, and he's just saying he'll always be there for her ("Oh I’m here for you")
