Lastlight Lyrics

Forget your fears,
and want no more.

At first light, lay proud foundations.
Sense the greatness, of that before you unfolds.
Seek no more, for hollow answers.
Answers that lay within you all along.

Farewell to dawns,
see through saddened eyes.
Farewell to pasts,
to sorrows chained.
Forget your fears,
and want no more.
You will be strong,
and want no more.
You'll be adored,
you will have everything.
You will be strong,
and want no more.
Forget your fears,
you will have everything.
And want no more...

VERY OBVIOUS: AFTER YOU DO ACID YOU FORGET MANY THINGS PRIMARILY BECAUSE OF THE CHEMICAL ANDS ITS PEMANENT SO THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT HOW AFTER THEY DO ACID MANY MEMORIES FADE You will be strong, and want no more. You'll be adored, you will have everything. You will be strong, HALLUCINOGENIC RESPONSE TO THE INTAKE OF ACID those are all symptoms

I see this song more about the futility of material possession. Desire for possession (i.e. seeking hollow answers) leads invariably to frustration, so by abandonning this desire (i.e. want no more) one can attain true fulfillment (i.e. strong, adored, etc...). Does that sound far-fetched ? Please let me know :)

That doesn't sound far-fetched at all. The idea that this is about dropping acid is far-fetched. If you're seeking "Answers that lay within you all along" then you're not finding them in acid. Plus, I think Ronan/VNV is considerably more wholesome and uplifting than to sing about and celebrate drug use and thus, by definition, addiction.

This song reminds me of a speech of comfort to the dying, letting go of the world, letting the pointless be pointless, and letting the dying soul into a sense of comfort. No more striving for anything, to please anyone, no more seeking for answers.
