Just like ships, we float through each other's lives
Through the waters of beauty and grace
We will one day dock at the same port
And give rest to our weary legs
There is a light placed up in the sky
Like the stained glass, time slows down
I wish I could sleep, I wish I could dream
I love the sound of my feet against these empty streets
I saw the whole town burn down
I'm walking away
Nothing stays, these feelings have wings
Our arms outstretched, we are soaring
Through the waters of beauty and grace
We will one day dock at the same port
And give rest to our weary legs
There is a light placed up in the sky
Like the stained glass, time slows down
I wish I could sleep, I wish I could dream
I love the sound of my feet against these empty streets
I saw the whole town burn down
I'm walking away
Nothing stays, these feelings have wings
Our arms outstretched, we are soaring

sweet song ik what it means but i cant seem to put it to words
It's about losing the love of your life but having faith that one day things will work out and so he's not worrying about it... madd ill song
This song is about a person constantly in one's life, a "soulmate" of sorts. They are constantly drifting in and out of your world, but things haven't ever fallen into place yet. However, you know that one day you will be together.
yeah i think that you guys could possibly be right too. but to me this song is talking about life and death. how everyones' souls are in their 'bodies' which are the 'ships'. we are just passing each other by in life but in the end we will all be together in the afterlife. "we will one day dock at the same port" and "our arms outstreched, we are soaring"
I love the part when the he sings "I wish I could sleep, I wish I could dream." It just feels like something I would say.
I agree with you LitaK. I think this song is about passing along into the afterlife. This song is definitely full of metaphors, like our bodies being ships and docking at the same port.
Now, let me know what you think, but I've really been thinking a lot about these lines "I love the sound of my feet against these empty streets I saw the whole town burn down I'm walking away" To me, I feel like this is saying that walking through this life feels really empty and useless and we're constantly walking away from it. Any thoughts?
I think it's about two people who keep missing each other, he wants them to finally "dock at the same port" and he knows it will happen, it's just the idea of waiting for it and finally getting together with that person.
He sings "I wish I could sleep, I wish I could dream," he feels like he won't be able to sleep until he's with the one person and you can't have dreams unless you're happy and asleep with that person.
At the end he explaining how he's seeing the town burn down and walking away and that is a metaphor for his relationship with her and they have still yet to finally come together permanently.
Hope this makes sense, hard to put into words.
