ahhh, i love this song. I think it's about pondering/thinking about your life and something other that I can't quite put my finger on.
This is an amazing song, as with many songs that I love, the actual meaning of the lyrics don't mean much to me, it's the music and the sound of the voices that does it. But, never mind that,
I think the lyrics are referring to always being told throughout life what is important, and all the things you must do, and then realizing that a lot of it doesn't really matter at all. When you feel like everything you've thought was important turned out to be meaningless, why then, you ask, "What am I for?"

I like the "Bap ba da ba" a lot though! The horn's fun too :)
I kind of get the impression its about killing oneself. I think its all the red imagery and the last lyric.The end is a bit sudden too
