Breathe

I love this song. To me, it's beautifully written song that deals with the discomfort of exsitential anxiety. The song particulary touches me because I am going through my own anxiety around the meaning of life, the uncertainty of my furture, and fear of death. I love that line, "keep your head above water but don't forget to breathe." It's comforting because he's telling us even though you may not have the answers keep doing what you are doing in the present ( "your whole life is here") and relax.

Loved hearing this in Stargate Universe. Perfect fit.

i think it's "you're aware in all the silence"

ridiculously amazing song. I think it's about not freezing up when you're feeling overwhelmed.

To me, the song presents a pretty cool concept. It's enough to keep your head above water, enough struggle goes into just doing that; but while you're struggling not to drown, you forget to ever enjoy the fruits of the labor. Get your head above water, work hard and support yourself, but don't forget what you're doing it for. Enjoy it from time to time. Don't forget to breathe.

I think this song is about someone who feels isolated in life ("In the quiet of the shadow, in the corner of a room, darkness moves upon you, like a cloud across the moon"), who just lives their life doing the same thing over and over (You're aware in all the silence, of a constant that will turn, like the windmill left deserted, or the sun forever burn"), because they're scared that they might make a mistake and something terrible will happen (probably because they've already been through something terrible, and its given them a very bleak outlook on the world and their own life in general... "And all the suffering that you've witnessed, and the handprints on the wall, they remind you how its endless, how endlessly you fall"). Now they're searching for an answer to "why"; why their life had to be this way, or why they can't seem to get better. ("And the answer that you're seeking, for the question that you've found, drives you further to confusion, as you lose your sense of ground"). I think he uses "Breathe" as a metaphor for life; i.e. "Don't forget to live". You only live once ("Your whole life is here, no eleventh hour reprieve"), You may just want it to be over with because you feel so shitty ("You know you are here, but you find you want to leave"), but you need to just move on and learn to be happy with the one life you have. Don't forget to live your life while you're alive, don't be an idiot and think you can do anything and f**k your future, but enjoy your life while you've got it.

Maybe I'm over analyzing it but that's the feeling I get when I hear this song. It helps me relax at night let go of all the things running through my mind that make it difficult to sleep. And yes I first heard this in SGU. Bomb show.
