April Sun In Cuba Lyrics
I'm tired of the city life,
Summer's on the run,
People tell me I should stay
But I got to get my fun
So don't try to hold me back
There's nothing you can say
Snake eyes on the paradise
And we got to go today.
Chorus
Take me to the April Sun in Cuba, oh, oh, oh,
Take me where the April sun gonna treat me
So right, so right, so right.
I can almost smell the perfumed nighs
And see the starry sky
I wish you comin' with me baby
'Cause right before my eye
See Castro in the alley way
Talkin' 'bout missile love
Talkin' 'bout J.F.K.
And the way he shook him up.
Chorus
I'm tired of the city life
Summer's on the run
Birds in the winter sky
Are headin' for the sun
Oh, we can stick it out
In this cold and grey
Snake eyes on the paradise,
And we got to go today, yeah.
Chorus
Take me to the APril sun,
C'mon take me, take me to the April sun,
C'mon, c'mon take me, take me to the April sun.
Summer's on the run,
People tell me I should stay
But I got to get my fun
So don't try to hold me back
There's nothing you can say
Snake eyes on the paradise
And we got to go today.
Take me where the April sun gonna treat me
So right, so right, so right.
And see the starry sky
I wish you comin' with me baby
'Cause right before my eye
See Castro in the alley way
Talkin' 'bout missile love
Talkin' 'bout J.F.K.
And the way he shook him up.
Summer's on the run
Birds in the winter sky
Are headin' for the sun
Oh, we can stick it out
In this cold and grey
Snake eyes on the paradise,
And we got to go today, yeah.
C'mon take me, take me to the April sun,
C'mon, c'mon take me, take me to the April sun.

yeah, i dont get the snake eyes bit.
at face value it would seem this song is simply about wanting to get away and holidaying, but it may have political tones.
i also think that maybe its about a place thats so beautiful that is (aparently) under autocratic rule?
I'm old enough to remember watching Marc Hunter & Paul Hewson (not Bono) the songwriters interviewed on TV about this song. They were in the middle of a dreary Melbourne winter and fantasized about a holiday in the sun. Cuba was the first place they thought of so it got the nod. There are references to Castro & JFK but the song isn't political, it is simply about escapism.
its definitely snake eyes on the paradise. they have a greatest hits album and a song called that......
It’s ’Snake eyes on the paradise’ which is the name of their greatest hits album.
The song was inspired by a chess master who lost while playing in a tournament in Cuba and blamed the sun being in his eyes for the loss.
From an interview with Todd Hunter cofounder and brother of lead vocalist and writer Todd Hunter
Have a book that says '...snake eyes on the PAIR OF DICE' ???????
Sunnyhill is right, it's 'snake eyes on a pair of dice' The song isn't really about anything, they just wrote it. I feel like it's a song that turned out, like fiascodagama said, getting away :)
On a lighter note (you had to be there), we were recently in Wellington for the Saints vs Swans clash (25th April - ANZAC Day) and noticed a sign a in Cuba Street whilst looking for somewhere to breakfast/brunch. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cuba_Street_Wellington.jpg
I commented to my brother-in-law : "Hey, looked through here (letters in the sign) you can see 'The April Sun in Cuba'. Well he thought it was funny/clever.
It's "snake eyes on the pair of dice"
