it's about finding a new love that brings out a part of him that he never knew existed, and made his heart feel something he never thought he'd get a chance to. he's been waiting all his life to find a love like that and now he never wants to let her down or make her leave. and if she does, he can never forget her and the way she made him feel.

However, when they find that someone and they begin to trust them and really love them even the lock (or knot) on their heart is broken and they are able to show that person all of themselves and truly be themselves. I think it's about transformation. He says how there was a part of him he felt like hidning, now it comes through. There is a part of him that's "brand new," indicating he is not hte same person anymore, and he can fully love without the "knot" in his heart letting his lovers down every time.
