Ship The Majestic Suffix Lyrics

Before our time
Upon a noon
There stood still a ship

Standing proud

She tows lines
Transforms words
To be more than they are
When they are alone
On their own
Pointing to no one

Ships displaying
The quality
The rank craft state
Skill dignity
When our ship comes
Into nations
Who will tow the line?

Ships passing into the night
Taking flight
with goods for everyone

Ships are led by
The compass ones
These shipshape daughters
These shipshape sons

When our ship draws
In the nations
He shall tow our line

Our ships of fools
From failing schools
We need now hear

the children
They desperately
Are needing to be
Be set free

They are afraid
But so are we
This can not be

See hope
Our captain riding
Throughout theses heavens
Bringing peace

We're shipping out
Our men again
Oh I pray it will end

These tunes
Are never ending
Thank you for sending
Them to our hands

Before our time
Upon a noun
There stood still a ship

Standing proud

She tows lines
Transform words
To be more than they are
When they are alone
On their own
She's pointing to
The one

Ship the Majestic Suffix is refering to friendship, as ship is the suffix at the end of the word... The rest of the song is simply a play off of the clever name of the tune itself.

its a fitting starting point for an album about friendship, especially when one considers that the name of the album is also "Ships". This opening track explains the meaning of the album name

The second line is "Upon a NOUN". Noon is the stupidest thing ever. The song is about words, hence...noun.

"Before our time - Upon a noun - There stood still a ship "

I interpreted this to mean: God existed before the world was created. One God in a relationship of three, and Jesus was the Word (noun). God is unchanging, His person still remains reliable.

"Before our time" God existed before the world was created "Upon a noun" the world was created when the Word spoke - Jesus was the Word "There stood still a ship" this ship was the 'Godship' or 'relationship between the trinity.' The word 'still' refers to God being unchanging and therefore knowable and reliable....

The second line should be "Upon a noon"

The second line should be "Upon a noon"

definitely noun.

In the fifth stanza from the end, I'm pretty sure it should be "Armageddon," not "our men again." "Our men again" really make no sense, whereas "armageddon" makes perfect sense with the context of the song.

I believe this song is about God's desire for us to be in relationship with Him and about how He has provided the means for us to do that.
