Noi Boi Lyrics

you look almost dead
face down in our bed
our heads full of seditives
we rest

you're sweet like a child
and wild as the devil
heaven surely sends its regrets
but we rest
content

cos if we die tonight, i do not care
there will be no need to be scared
yeah, if we do not make it, i don't mind
all i want is to sleep by your side
too many people live imprisoned
stuck somewhere between the is and isn't
the night will pass and we'll no longer think on
what it was or what it wasn't

i may never win this race
i may never have money on me
it all seems a lottery anyway
i got a job that pays my rent
and i can take you out now and then
it's all about the time we spend together anyway

and if we die tonight, i do not care
there will be no need to be scared
yeah, if we do not make it, i don't mind
all i want is to sleep by your side
too many people live imprisoned
stuck somewhere between the is and isn't
the night will pass and we'll no longer think on
what it was or what it wasn't

Best song off the new record.

I think it's about being truely content, and not letting anything hold you back. Live, be who you are.

I'd like to say it's about being content, but the song itself doesn't seem entirely content. The first two verses are so strange -- sedatives? Regrets from heaven?

It sounds like he says sometimes, instead of "there will not be a need to be scared", "there will not be a me to be scared", a denial of an afterlife -- making the song that much more focused on the here and now.

I think it is "there will not be a me to be scared." It's a wonderful line. It's the rejection of a permanent self. It's an amazing song about being content, even if you have very little. He's happy just being with this person, making enough money to take her out, to pay his rent, and it sounds like that's all he needs. There are some Buddhist-like themes being explored here; lines like "too many people live imprisoned/stuck somewhere between the is and isn't" and "...we'll no longer think on/what it was or what it wasn't" hint at the Buddhist idea of impermanence.

I fucking love this song.

I just love how Judah sings in this song and all of Cum Laude really. Like using his voice more like an extra instrument. He sings some parts clearly and some are really hard to understand. And singing like that could make up for really bad lyrics, since they wouldn't really be heard, but here, the lyrics are so great. Just a perfect song off a perfect album by an awesome band.

I've listened to this album so many times and this song still has me choking every time I listen to it.

This music has so much feeling.
