james morrison said this song was about his life as a kid...you know....chores before you can play and all that. he kind of resented his mom for that...i think the girl's part can kind of be like she is good at all those things but there's no one there to share it with her...probably cause they are so busy worrying about themselves.

^^^all i can say for this part is that it's never easy to get to a certain place in your life when there's no one in your corner...or even when it SEEMS that no one is in your corner. and knowing that you made it where you are is a gift like nothing else and it is something to be proud of. this part is basically about accepting what happened and living with it...

and i'd love to forgive and forget so i'll try to put all this behind us just know that my arms are wide open the older i get the more that i know well it's time to let this go

^^^i actually think this is one of the best parts of the song. because you don't have to relate to the rest of the song to relate to this. i mean how many of us have been in the position where we are the ones forgiving? it's not so easy to do that. and the thing is that you've taken a step by trying to put it behind you. "my arms are wide open"...this is the i am forgiving you part. it means that you can look at them and be ok about what happened...it means that you are getting past the conflict.

"the older i get the more that i know well it's time to let this go"---those are my favorite lines in the entire song. because after looking at your life you kind of realize that holding on to hurts gets you nowhere really. i mean everyone should have to time to deal with things but you can't deal with it so much that you change who you are because of it. and it doesn't benefit you to hold on to it.

i love the beginning of this song and the music really complements his voice. I really like this song, bt i think the i got to let it go sequence kinda interrupts the song. Bt its a gr8 song neverthless

It's About a Guy and a Girl, Because they love eachother noone could date another somebody because they're afraid to hurt their Best friend, or more :p soooo she's found another guy :p and he's just hurt but he realises he has got to let it gooo and put it behind him :) The past is the past :d
