the line that's listed here as "daddy you're still my friend" sounds quite clearly to me like "that you're still my friend."

i think the song is from the POV of someone who's been screwed over by a friend and realizes that the person's a complete jerkoff, but is willing to let it slide one last time. there's a warning right there in the song title - don't even trip. you screw up once, even in the smallest little way, and it's all over.

facelift, if that song is directed towards Trey Spruance then it's a complete joke. The lyrics in Peeping Tom are brilliant cause they fit on every listener, plus Mike Patton doesn't really take himself seriously.

Anyway, this song is about old friends and a really big warning towards one of them. The main character realizes the other one is nothing but a fuck and asks himself if they're still friends. Probably yes.

This song has a serious dose of Patton's humor which is damn weird and I totally love it.

What kind of friend throws another under the bus with a song, especially a tongue in cheek trip hop song?

i think this song is from the POV of god or at least a spirit that has been with the person he is singing to for a long long time. i think he is trying to give him words of inspiration even though he calls him a piece of shit, he calls him that because he knows what mankind is, pretty shitty at times. but the words of inspiration come from saying "drop that gun you aint my fucking hero, think its cool to be a fuckin zero" cause he wants the subject to be an influence in people's lives but its not the right way to go, and then, "speak up now, and one of you is a hundred loud, when you preach they'll join you on the roofs and streets" he is saying, use your words instead of weapons, and the people will listen to him, as if he was a born leader. i kind of think the long was set up for a person with dilusions of grandeur and what his "voices" in his head are telling him, but this time, those voices might be right.
