El Ciervo Vulnerado Lyrics

I've been drinking black myrrh again
The closer we pour
I needed to touch your lip
With a nail in my arm
The night that you cut me
Our coven did walk
I fell at your mercy
I fell in your grave
Mecca amputechture
It stands in my way
The longer I stay
An elderly child
The longer the myrrh gives birth
To the death that I've found

If you consume me
I will not let you endure
If you walk right through me
My voice will taint your throat
Blessed be, blessed be
And all I've done

Someone is watching us
Someone has found
Fluorescent ligaments
On black and white tile
Why do you call them?
If your kingdom won't come
The longer I stay
Forever I rot

If you consume me
I will not let you endure
If you walk right through me
My voice will taint your throat
Blessed be, blessed be
And all I've done, oh

Because the flies my mouth spilled
Bear the childen at play

Cover art for El Ciervo Vulnerado lyrics by Mars Volta, The

El Ciervo Vulnerado loosly translated means a Wounded Deer.

(Also: "Myrrh was burned in ancient Roman funerals to mask the smell emanating from charring corpses." -Wikipedia)

According to the lyrics in the CD booklet it actually says mirror, not myrrh. Actually a lot of the lyrics are a bit off, but it's not a bad effort at all, considering the Mars Volta. Here are the ones straight from the CD:

I've been drinking black mirror again The closer we part I needed to touch your lips With the nail in my heart The night that you caught me My coffin did walk I feel at your mercy I fell in your grave Meccamputechture That stands in my way The younger I stay An elderly child The longer the mirror gives birth To the death I file

If you consume me I will not let you go If you walk right through me My voice will taint your throat Blessed be the wrong I've done

Someone is watching us Someone has found Fluorescent ligaments On a black and white tile Why do you call them If your kingdom won't come The younger I stay Forever I rot

If you consume me I will not let you go If you walk right through me My voice will taint your throat Blessed be the wrong i've done

Because the flies my mouth spill Bare the children at play

The more I read those lyrics and listen to the song, the more confused I get and the more my brain hurts. XD

this was the easiest song to follow in the whole album

I thought it was "I've been drinking black milk again"

Any idea what the jumbled sounding words at the end are?

It's

If you consume me I will not let you go If you walk right through me My voice will taint your throat Blessed be the wrong i've done

played backwards. Well, not exactly. Every line is reversed seperatively. So it's more like:

Blessed be Blessed be (oooh) the wrong I've done Blessed be Blessed be My voice will taint your throat If you walk right through me I will not let you go If you consume me

what I want to know is why the song just abruptly ends

I know TMV are known for random shake-ups, but I think the album could have ended much smoother

ah well, what can you do...

great album for the most part.

hmm actually, now that I think about it, it could just go with theme as stated on another forum, "cutting off before you have the chance to rebuild" as Omar said

good stuff
