My Heart and I from LaPiovra 5 by Ennio Morricone [LaPiovra means The Octopus—Italian drama about the Mafia] performed by Sting on Cinema Italiano 2002, a compliation album.

Again as with “She Walks This Earth” it’s interesting to see what a skilled composer selects from the works of others to perform. No doubt it is Morricone’s fanciful separation of the heart from the man that has appeal. The heart takes on a life of it’s own, sharing emotions with the man.

You seem as usual, swept up in wings and yet you would be the first to say—it’s not like that. It’s quite different than it looks and it truly is. Much of it is immensely frustrating and obnoxious but you’ve developed a heart’s ability to cocoon yourself from its harsh and at times senseless realities. It doesn’t favor you despite words to the contrary. It’s not fair to you despite what might be mistakenly presumed by others. You give it volumes more than it gives you. It actually cheats you, you know it, and you still have the grace to say, okay—I see what the deal is. Can’t do anything about it, but … Twin spirits—not those twin spirits—spend lots of time swept away by appearances and yet how could those appearances look so convincing? Perhaps because the game is to move past them to something more tangible …. Just a clue and not necessarily a clue either can act on but at least you know.
