Unity Mitford Lyrics
Arm in arm on the boulevard
Speaking the language that only we know
I'll brush an eyelash from your cheek
I know they'll write books about you
And oh! the crowds and the joyful faces
These people are just backdrop to us
You and I don't even think like they do
You and I we're like a different species
Like Romeo and Juliet
In a bunker, shot through the head
Everything will be beautiful
Everything will be beautiful
Affairs of state and of the heart
I love it when you speak so passionately
We understand how music works
You understand what you mean to me
And oh! the indescribable beauty
Of a million hands raised to salute you
Like poppies lean when winds caress them
Cut flowers pressed to solemn duty
Like Romeo and Juliet
In a bunker, shot through the head
Everything will be beautiful
Everything will be beautiful
This epoch, this century,
These people and this infamy
Where once there was a single summer
That never seemed to turn.
Speaking the language that only we know
I'll brush an eyelash from your cheek
I know they'll write books about you
And oh! the crowds and the joyful faces
These people are just backdrop to us
You and I don't even think like they do
You and I we're like a different species
In a bunker, shot through the head
Everything will be beautiful
Everything will be beautiful
I love it when you speak so passionately
We understand how music works
You understand what you mean to me
And oh! the indescribable beauty
Of a million hands raised to salute you
Like poppies lean when winds caress them
Cut flowers pressed to solemn duty
In a bunker, shot through the head
Everything will be beautiful
Everything will be beautiful
These people and this infamy
Where once there was a single summer
That never seemed to turn.

well, it's a love song about Hitler, isn't it?
Yeah, Unity Mitford was a female English pro-Nazi who went to Germany and managed to get into Hitler's in-crowd. When Britain declared war on Germany, she sent him a letter saying goodbye then tried to kill herself by shooting herself in the head.
even if it is about a traitor who supported Nazi Germany its still one of the most beautiful songs ive ever heard. When the guitar comes it at the end of the second chorus its like wow!
this is such a sweet song. as for king of some islands comment, she might have loved hitler but she never wanted war and she wasnt necessarily a traitor. people will do stupid things for love - romeo and juliet are a perfect example
Diana Mitford was infinitely more hateful than her sister Unity ever was, Hitler-crush or no.
