Invisible Sun Lyrics
Don’t want to spend the rest of my life
Looking at the barrel of an armalite
I don’t want to spend the rest of my days
Keeping out of trouble like the soldiers say
I don’t want to spend my time in hell
Looking at the walls of a prison cell
I don’t ever want to play the part
Of a statistic on a government chart
There has to be an invisible sun
It gives its heat to everyone
There has to be an invisible sun
That gives us hope when the whole day’s done
Its dark all day, and it glows all night
Factory smoke and acetylene light
I face the day with me head caved in
Looking like something that the cat brought in
There has to be an invisible sun
It gives its heat to everyone
There has to be an invisible sun
That gives us hope when the whole day’s done
And they’re only going to change this place by
Killing everybody in the human race
And they would kill me for a cigarette
But I don’t even wanna die just yet
There has to be an invisible sun
It gives its heat to everyone
There has to be an invisible sun
It gives us hope when the whole day’s done
Looking at the barrel of an armalite
I don’t want to spend the rest of my days
Keeping out of trouble like the soldiers say
I don’t want to spend my time in hell
Looking at the walls of a prison cell
I don’t ever want to play the part
Of a statistic on a government chart
It gives its heat to everyone
There has to be an invisible sun
That gives us hope when the whole day’s done
Factory smoke and acetylene light
I face the day with me head caved in
Looking like something that the cat brought in
It gives its heat to everyone
There has to be an invisible sun
That gives us hope when the whole day’s done
Killing everybody in the human race
And they would kill me for a cigarette
But I don’t even wanna die just yet
It gives its heat to everyone
There has to be an invisible sun
It gives us hope when the whole day’s done

Basically it means I don’t want to play the war game. The invisible sun is perhaps a higher intelligence that sees all of creation as love.
Life is funny. Most of us exist wanting to be happy and comfortable in our lives until we die. But there are plenty of others who feel that death games are crucial to maintaining our happy comfort. We are terrified when death games become real but we spend plenty of time entertaining ourselves with films, games and music that can drag us to the rim of the abyss that spells death’s reality. I won’t say it’s wrong because obviously we do it with gusto. I’ll presume the fascination with death and destruction has us all by the balls—even if we don’t have balls—imagine some on yourself. Lol
Like it or not—and we do like it or else this wouldn’t be what we are all doing—we will all die someday. Not everyone wants to hit the old folks home or be crushed in a speeding wreck. Part of life is trying furiously to evade death and yet we never do—essentially we are seeking postponement because it promises to pacify our fear. We yearn for control. This makes for an interesting game rather than a stupid one because fear is a very real emotion. If we had personal reassurance that we would live a long and happy life evading others who prefer a wilder ride, war wouldn’t be an issue. It would be the preference of others that we could accept and understand only because we possessed the knowledge that we do not have to be dragged into it involuntarily. But life—in infinite perfection—knows how enticing a mystery can be and how boring it can be to know everything.
Life is the invisible sun. It drives us crazy with worry because we don’t know in this game of musical chairs, just when the music will stop and there won’t be a chair for us. The alternative is knowing everything and having to write scripts, pen songs, and create games that have us wailing in agony about boredom. And actually I think this is happening. The script—the lyrics—the game—is called life and from a certain point of view, it truly is an invisible sun that gives heat and hope to all who entertain this perspective
Always liked the melody very much ...
