Get Lonely Lyrics
I will rise up early and dress myself up nice
And I will leave the house and check the deadlock twice
And I will find a crowd and blend in for a minute
And I will try to find a little comfort in it
And I will get lonely
And gasp for air
And send your name off from my lips
Like a signal flare
And I will go downtown, stand in the shadows of the buildings
And button up my coat, trying to stay strong - spirit willing
And I will come back home, maybe call some friends
Maybe paint some pictures, it all depends
And I will get lonely
And gasp for air
And look up at the high windows
And see your face up there
And I will leave the house and check the deadlock twice
And I will find a crowd and blend in for a minute
And I will try to find a little comfort in it
And gasp for air
And send your name off from my lips
Like a signal flare
And button up my coat, trying to stay strong - spirit willing
And I will come back home, maybe call some friends
Maybe paint some pictures, it all depends
And gasp for air
And look up at the high windows
And see your face up there

I'm afraid to comment on this song. It feels as if I do I'll somehow ruin it. It's indescribable. The violin in the chorus... indescribable.
My iPod was playing this song yesterday morning as I walked to work. I thought most certaintly my heart would burst.
I'm afraid to take a breath until he does once the song is over. And even then... it's a very shallow breath.
not only does he write amazing lyrics that should go down in history but sadly will not for the general public, he sings with such emotion! Emotion that the audience shares at each and every show.
He doesn't just write these songs, he feels them as he sings them, and that makes them all the better.
These are all of the feelings I like to pretend I don't have when I am feeling lonely or abandoned. But I do. And the line, "Trying to stay strong--spirit willing" feels like a gasp of relief, that one that allows you to breathe when you can hardly do so but also makes you tear up instantly. I don't know if that makes any sense to anyone but me, but damn, this song evokes almost a physiological response from me.
It's hard not to cry listening to this. Because I know how it feels.
How does he do it?
God this is an amazing song. I fell instantly in love with it.
the delicateness of the chorus leaves you grasping tightly at your chest, void of air. it is quite literally breathtaking.
