so we are...
doubled over toilets.
trying to look skinny,
do you feel paper thin?
and soon as you blink,
you're back in the kitchen stuffing your face all over again.
and i drink to feel nothing at all and try and forget
all the lies that i told with the best of intentions.
i thought they'd come true, yeah, well they never did.
now i'm back in that little dive bar in Montana,
talking to the barkeep,
"hey, pour another one for me."
she said, "listen up son, you got alot of questions.
you won't find your answer at the bottom of a drink.
i've seen alot of things, boy.

i've been living with debts unpaid,
and i pray to God for an angel to save me.
and an answer it came in the form of a friend.
he saved my life, but i couldn't save his.
and the Evil men still walking the streets.
it didn't seem fair cause he was only nineteen.
and every new kid that i meet,
could of used a friend like him...
and she said love's the vaccine.
it give you a cold to kill you disease.
and the hurt you feel is so temporary
compared to love.
well i lost my husband about four years ago.
and counting the day just makes me miss him more.
but if he were here i know he'd say,
Debra, my love, my one, my only.
i'm keeping a seat warm for you.
but before you join me, there's something you gotta do.
many a kids might walk through your bar...
looking for God amongst the drunks and the whores.
